A neighbourhood is more than the buildings around your home. Community Life lets local events, familiar faces, groups and repeated participation become part of the same Life.

Use this chapter when: you want to see what is happening nearby, plan a local event, volunteer, meet neighbours, join a group or understand what moving means for local connections.

Neighbourhood Evolution remains responsible for physical change: a park improves, a venue opens or closes, a development progresses, or the character of an area changes. Community Life adds what is happening in those places and who the player comes to know there.
Open Community Life from Command. The same Living Places surface connects Day Planner, Places in Your Life, Neighbourhood, Local People, Groups and What’s On, so local activity does not become a disconnected menu.

There is no Community XP system. Belonging comes from turning up, meeting people again and building history with real places. Events are optional, and joining a group never books attendance automatically.

What’s On shows a small, current selection connected to the present neighbourhood and its usable places. Filters include Events, Volunteering, Groups/Activities, Family Friendly, Outdoors and Culture. Quieter periods are genuine; the page does not fill itself with unsuitable events simply to look busy.

What’s On presents current local events with their date, place, time, cost, suitability and familiar people.
Events can include markets, food festivals, neighbourhood get-togethers, outdoor cinema, book swaps, clean-ups, community gardening, food-bank sessions, repair cafés, donation drives, yoga, family picnics, children's days, walking groups, local history evenings and seasonal fairs.
Open an event to see when and where it happens, its duration, cost, accessibility or family context, the related place and any familiar people likely to be there. Add it to the Planner only when it fits.
| Community activity | How it fits into the Life |
|---|---|
| One-off event | A real Calendar choice with a place, duration, travel and optional spending |
| Volunteering | Uses time and energy for a practical local purpose; it is not a points reward |
| Family-friendly activity | Can appear for a child in Formative Years or an adult who genuinely has children |
| Recurring group | Keeps a useful local connection visible, while every attendance remains optional |
| Repeated encounter | Can turn a recognised face into an acquaintance or genuine local relationship |
Adding an event creates a Calendar commitment and reserves the real time. Day Planner and Geography handle the journey. Work, Business, Health, family plans and other appointments can create a conflict. If the same event is added twice, it remains one commitment.
Attendance is recorded when the scheduled activity actually happens. Missing it because the character is hospitalised or circumstances change does not create a false visit or relationship gain. A planned event affected by moving can be cancelled honestly.
Community events are optional information, so a merely available event does not block Smart Time Advance. A real booked commitment or a choice arising from participation can still need attention.
Local People begins with light recognition: somebody next door, in the same building or street, a local business owner, another parent, or a person encountered at a place or event. A first introduction does not automatically create a close friend.
