HOME covers where the character lives, who shares the household, the condition of the property and the places and assets they own.

Use this chapter when: the household is renting, buying, moving, dealing with property costs, reviewing assets, or trying to understand how places and neighbourhood changes affect daily life.

Current household, tenure, costs, people, property facts and pressure.
Travel, work, schools, Health services, shops and the neighbourhood around the household.
Open HOME from Command to see the current address, tenure, household, running costs, repairs and housing options. A young adult can remain with parents; moving out is a Life decision, not an automatic birthday event.
Household brings together Overview, Members, Home Life and Finances. The people you live with keep their own jobs, relationships and circumstances. An adult living with parents normally pays board rather than taking over their full housing bills. For partners, working adult children, housemates, contributions and shared-living decisions, use 11B. Household Members & Shared Living.

Important distinction: HOME is where you live. Property Portfolio is where additional property you own or manage sits. For investment purchases, keeping a previous home, tenants, rent, repairs, notices, sale and inheritance, see 11A. Property Portfolio & Landlord Life.

HOME → Household Overview with a populated home, real residents and their current circumstances
Renting involves affordability, deposits, regular rent, tenancy pressure and repairs. Buying moves through property search, affordability, offer, purchase and mortgage stages where applicable. Mortgage terms and ownership costs continue after completion.
Selling can release or reduce money after costs and outstanding borrowing. Moving updates the household's geography, commute, school, Life Places and local opportunities. Relocation can therefore affect work, relationships, family and the neighbourhood around the character.
Faults have severity, status and a route through reporting or repair. Waiting can worsen comfort, cost or Health. Renters and owners may face different responsibilities. Legal disputes or civic processes move into Legal & Civic Life while remaining connected to HOME.
If illness or injury makes the current home harder to use, Health → Independence & Support connects practical needs with HOME. Relevant adaptations may help with access, stairs, lighting or ground-floor room use; they do not cure a condition.
When appropriate, you can consider an ordinary move to somewhere more manageable or closer to family, using HOME’s usual housing and affordability process. Fixed adaptations remain with the old property. Read 19A. Independence & Support before deciding how support and living arrangements should change.
The Asset Vault records owned items and property with ownership, condition, insurance, upkeep and sale options. An asset can lose condition, need repair, incur regular costs or be sold. Insurance can limit some consequences but does not erase every cost or exclusion.
